Recruit a Small Committee. Form a small committee to share the workload. Committee members can:
- Create and distribute flyers or posters.
- Send emails to their networks.
- Post on social media.
- Count and sort supplies at the end of your drive.
- Deliver the supplies after counting.
- Choose Your Drive Dates Select a time frame to host your drive. It is recommneded to take advantage of the best back-to-school sales.
- Decide What and How to Collect. Refer to the list of the Teacher Free-Store Top School Supply Items and decide what you want to collect. You can choose to collect everything or focus on specific items/categories instead of all nine.
- Have Fun and Get Creative Try organizing a competition between departments, floors, neighboring businesses, or other groups to boost participation! Establish specific goals for each team or an overall goal for the drive, and communicate these goals to everyone involved.
- Spread the Word and Build Excitement Kick off your drive with a special event, share information about school supply sales at local stores, and provide visual updates (try a thermometer). Engage participants through various communication channels and explain why donating school supplies is important to local students.
